The Pennsbury Community Band was founded by Christopher Bygott and Frank Mazzeo in 2011 to fulfill the need of providing an opportunity for life long learning to the community within the Pennsbury Instrumental Music Department. Its mission is to provide an exceptional musical experience both for its audience and members.
Under Bygott’s direction, the group has grown from fewer than 20 members its first year to over 40 today. The group is made up of professionals, serious amateurs, Pennsbury alumni & faculty, community members from in and around Pennsbury and select Pennsbury high school students . The group plays a variety of band literature, focusing on high quality concert music, standard band repertoire, and modern compositions.
The ensemble performs several concerts a year at Pennsbury High School and at area community events. Most notably the band has performed an annual Labor Day Concert at Veterans Square Monument in Lower Makefield the past 6 years and in 2015 was invited to perform at the community band conference, Musica per la Vita!, at Temple University.
